Over 12 Years of Freedom: South Africa’s Gifts to the World

This year, South Africa will celebrate almost 2 decades of democracy. Like my true love providing a dozen gifts during the festive season, South Africa has been able to contribute to a number of international events since sanctions were lifted.

With tongue firmly in cheek, here are twelve contributions South Africa revealed to an unsuspecting public. Enjoy!

In over 12 years of democracy, South Africa declared:

Twelve Rand to the British Pound,

Eleven official languages,

Fifa 2010,

District Nine,

end of Apartheid,

seven time host to Miss World,

Invictus,

Rugby World Cup 1995.
